Welcome to pure & yummy!
I have a passion for good food made from scratch. I am a mother of two adorable little girls, Katelyn and Ashley, my husband’s name is Chris and we live in Orange County, CA. Since becoming a mother in 2006 I have been very passionate about the quality of food that I give to my children. As soon as they were able to eat solids I fed them homemade baby food purees (I wish I could say that I went as far as to make their baby cereal too, but I just bought the Earth’s Best Organic Oatmeal). I read most labels avoid hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, nitrates/nitrites and foods high in sodium as much as possible. I have found a lot of joy in making things from scratch and knowing exactly what I am feeding my children, my husband and myself. I am trying to instill good eating habits in my children by feeding them fruit and veggies at every meal and teaching them all about the food we eat. We have been taking in the local farmers markets and produce filled markets and my oldest daughter has such a fun time picking out all the fun fruits and veggies to eat. She also really enjoys helping mommy out in the kitchen.
I also have a joy of making and eating all things food. I love exploring the grocery stores for special ingredients and tackling new and exciting recipes. There is a simple joy when you create something delicious that is enjoyed and loved by others. As a stay at home mom, it is the simple things in life that bring me much joy. I am new to this foodie blog world, but I am very excited to see the journey that it will take me on. I hope you enjoy the journey with me as well. Bon Appetit!

Carrie,
This is a great idea and I give you so much credit for acting on the importance of knowing what is going into your girls’ bodies. I have a bread machine, and do make bread mostly in the winter, to serve with homemade soups. So I’m signed up and we’ll see where this takes us.

We want some of those cupcakes that the little sweetie made
OK.. so can I say this blog…love it…i like the theme of recipies for the seasons.. i could completly feel the fall vibe…The Guinness Bailey’s Irish Cream Cupcakes, simply brilliance! I showed it to my mom..she wants to use that recipie for a work party.. Also.. the Chili con Carne with Beans with the Mexican Oregano..mmmm mmmm.and it had the turkey instead of the beef.. so delicious of course essence makes everything better..I started using that last year and I think I have gone through atleast 3 bottles.. it’s such a delicious flavor without being overwhelming…it really enhances the flavors of your dish instead of changing it..my favorite part of that dish was the guacamole on top..mmm mmm…that’s never a wrong move…OH and I can’t forget the caramel apples.. I really can’t wait to make those b.c. they are my favorite thing about the fall season.. it’s a family tradition with me and my mom to eat them and the problem I always have is getting ones where the apple isn’t the freshest so this inspired me to just not be lazy and add to the excitment of the tradition and make them myself…the only thing sweeter than those apples are those babies of urs.. sooooo cute.. I would want to cook for them too…can’t wait to see what new yummies you put up.. I love cooking too and these easy but super delicious recipies are exactly what I’m looking for to give me new ideas… THANKS…FROM A GRATEFUL COOK
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! I am so glad that you are enjoying my recipes and I love that I can share them with you. And let me just say that the Guinness cupcakes will NOT disappoint!
